Amazon Leo supports construction sites in the U.K. and Germany with real-time equipment monitoring.

Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based technology enables everyone, everywhere to live, work and communicate better. Now, a recent collaboration between Amazon Leo and Hitachi Construction Machinery is bringing reliable, high-speed connectivity to the job sites!

On June 24, 2026, Hitachi Construction Machinery signed an agreement with Amazon Leo, Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, making Hitachi Construction Machinery the first construction machinery manufacturer to join Amazon Leo’s enterprise preview and trial operations.

Hitachi Construction Machinery will deploy portable Amazon Leo antennas across construction sites in the United Kingdom and Germany, enabling workers to access and upload machine health reports, service manuals, maintenance alerts and inspection reports in real-time from the field.

“Signing the agreement with Amazon Leo marks a step toward validating our vision of connecting all construction sites through communication—regardless of location,” says Hiroshi Hosokawa, executive officer and head of the Parts and Service Business Unit. “With reliable satellite connectivity, we can deliver high-quality ConSite services at every job site in the world and, in the future, enable real-time AI analysis of operation data to further benefit our customers.”

Operating a global service network of approximately 300 sales agents and nearly 9,000 mechanics, Amazon Leo is creating a game-changing opportunity for Hitachi Construction Machinery to more efficiently collect machine operation and maintenance data. With the help of LEO satellites, Hitachi Construction Machinery is keeping every construction site connected.
