This week, AT&T announced an Amazon partnership, including coordination efforts with Amazon Leo, the company’s up-and-coming low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet service, to reach more rural and remote businesses with the reliable connectivity they need to compete in our modern marketplace.

From the release:

“AT&T will also collaborate with Amazon Leo, Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network that operates as a separate Amazon business. Amazon Leo will provide internet connectivity services to AT&T, enabling AT&T to broaden its connectivity capabilities and deliver fixed broadband services to business customers in areas where such services are needed.”

Because of their low orbit, LEO satellites can offer low-latency, high-speed connectivity far surpassing the slow, spotty satellite service of the past. Additionally, with no in-ground infrastructure requirement for the end-user, LEO technology offers a broadband option for areas that traditional technology, like fiber, may be too costly or geographically impossible to reach.

We are glad to see companies embracing diverse connectivity solutions to serve their customers. It is through partnerships like these that, together, we can ensure everyone, everywhere has access to the high-speed, reliable internet they need to thrive in the modern-day U.S.A.

Hear from Connect Everyone Coalition business members on what reliable connectivity means to them:

“Access to reliable internet is a critical factor in the economic success of businesses. We should be using every available connectivity technology, including low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, to expand internet access as quickly as possible and ensure that our small and disabled veteran businesses have the economic resources, tools, and efficiencies that 21st-century connectivity provides.” – Coalition of Small and Disabled Veteran Businesses

“The mission of our chamber is to drive the growth and advancement of Asian American and Pacific Islander businesses in the Commonwealth of Virginia – and internet access is a key requirement for this.” – Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce

“Nearly every part of my business and the needs of my customers rely on internet connectivity. Without a reliable connection, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. I am grateful to work with CEC in its mission to ensure patients and first responders across America, in addition to small businesses just like mine, can tap into the affordable, reliable connectivity they need to thrive in today’s online economy.” – Mullons Care Solutions
